Kate Wicker is a Catholic wife, mom of five, recovering perfectionist, and the author of Getting Past Perfect: How to Find Joy & Grace in the Messiness of Motherhood and Weightless: Making Peace with Your Body. Getting Past Perfect was recently honored with a 2018 Catholic Press Association Award. Kate also has a novel in the works.
Kate is a regular contributor to Relevant Radio, the Spirit in the Morning Show, Catholic Digest, and she writes devotionals for Take Up & Read, a ministry dedicated to inviting women to read, ponder, and to respond to the Word of God.
Kate has her degree in journalism and has written for numerous regional and national media, including Atlanta Parent, Catholic Exchange, CatholicMom.com, Catholic News Agency, Children’s Ministry Magazine, Family Fun, Pregnancy, WhattoExpect.com, and Woman’s Day.
In addition, Kate appeared in Danielle Bean’s Momnipotent DVD series and the Catholic Conference 4 Women Relationships Online Program. She’s been a guest on EWTN television and radio, The Catholic Feminist Podcast, Ascension Press’s Girlfriends Podcast, the Fountains of Carrots Podcast, Huffington Post Live, the Busted Halo Show, and the Jennifer Fulwiler Show among others.
Kate has tried a lot of things – an eating disorder, law school, marathon running, being perfect – and through it all she’s been writing. And learning to embrace the messiness of life instead of covering it up, making excuses for it, or being ashamed of her brokenness or her home’s sticky counters.
These days, Kate strives every single, imperfect day to strike a balance between keeping it real and keeping it joyful.
